Not to sound jingoistic because there are problems everywhere, but as I see it, the difference is that in an autocracy, be it N Korea, Russia or other such states, their leaders try to win wars in their parades through the propaganda of the goose step, a very aggressive form. In the U.S. and other more democratic (for now) countries, there's definitely the showing off aspect; but it's your brothers, sisters, sons and daughters, not super soldiers. The "relaxed" form is a projection of confidence, not terror.

My grandpa bill fought in the Korean War and was in a submarine when it exploded, him and few of his men that survived were then taken hostage and tortured Long story short he lived to be 105 and always had the coolest stories He died a couple years ago now and I still remember his stories like he told me them yesterday
